VPX
VPX (VITA 46) ist der designierte Nachfolger von VME in allen Applikationsfeldern mit rauen Umgebungsbedingungen für mindestens die nächsten 20 Jahre. VPX-Systeme implementieren Prozessorbaords in 3HE und 6HE Formfaktoren und bieten dank eines neuen Multigig-Konnektors eine enorme Bandbreiten auf der Backplane. Aktuell sind derzeit PCIe und Gigabit-Ethernet über die VPX-Backplane. Bald werden auch 10 Gigabit-Ethernet, RapidIO und extrem leistungsfähige Inter-FPGA I/Os folgen. Kontron bietet die grundlegenden Komponenten für die Entwicklung effizienter und ökonomischer embedded VPX-Systeme.
Die VPX Spezifikationen haben sich bisher auf Boardlevel-Ebene konzentriert. Es besteht jedoch auch ein Bedarf für Richtlinien auf Systemebene, um die Interoperabilität zu verbessern und applikationsspezifische Anpassungen, Tests, Kosten und Risiken auf ein Minimum zu reduzieren. Die OpenVPX System-Spezifikation (VITA 65) definiert Rahmenrichtlinien, um die Anzahl von Modul- und Backplane-Designs zu limitieren und effizient zu verwalten, einschließlich der Pin-out Definitionen für die Interoperabilität im VPX-Ökosystem unter Beibehaltung der vollen VPX-Konformität.
