Kontron’s new COMe-bEP7: Industrial-grade server-class Computer-on-Module

AMD EPYC™ Embedded 3000 SoC processors, high memory and comprehensive networking and connectivity to support a wide range of high-performance headless server applications

Ismaning, June 8, 2021 - Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), today announces a brand new COM Express® Basic Type 7 Computer-on-Module based on AMD EPYC™ Embedded 3000 SoC processors, delivering cost-efficient, highly scalable server-class performance on a small form factor.
 
Featuring 4 -16 cores, Kontron’s new COMe-bEP7 Type 7 module offers exceptional memory with up to 4 x SODIMM sockets delivering 128GB DDR4 RAM. Excellent networking capabilities and connectivity are provided with 4x 10GbE interfaces and up to 32 PCIe Gen 3 lanes. Furthermore, an optional onboard NVMe can be integrated in addition to the 2x SATA ports.
 
Measuring only 125 x 95 mm and designed for use with a carrier board, the highly robust Kontron COMe-bEP7 is ideal for a wide range of headless (no display) high-performance server applications. These include embedded edge and micro servers, medical imaging, 5G, AI, machine learning/camera inspection and test&measurement.

The industrial-grade COMe-bEP7 module is capable of operating in harsh envionments from -40 °C to 85 °C and includes 4x USB 3.1, 4x USB 2.0 as well as LPC, SPI Flash, SMB, Dual Staged Watchdog and RTC. Additional special features include a Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) for maximum security. A COM Express® eval carrier Type 7 is also available.
