Vienna, July 15, 2025 – Kontron, a leading global IoT technology company, announces the conclusion of a service contract with SNCF France (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) worth a three-digit million euro amount. The contract is the logical continuation of the long-term partnership between Kontron Transportation and SNCF. With this significant contract, Kontron Transportation emphasizes its strong capability to build mission-critical communication systems that meet current customer needs, positioning itself as a reliable and long-term trusted partner in the technology transition from GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communication – Railway) to Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS).

As a driving force in the definition of future communication standards, Kontron offers its customers the possibility of a smooth migration and coexistence between GSM-R and a next-generation communication standard like FRMCS. 

This contract ensures the continued evolution of the mobile communication system to FRMCS, until approved for use on the customer networks and fully deployed. It also emphasises the continued existence of a comprehensive core network as well as Kontron’s specially developed AI-powered knowledge base.
