The SL i.MX8M Mini System-on-Module from Kontron Electronics is a powerful and compact solution for demanding embedded and IoT applications. Equipped with the NXP i.MX8M Mini processor, the module combines high computing performance with energy-efficient design and a space-saving form factor of just 30 mm x 30 mm. Thanks to the Arm® Project Cassini initiative and SystemReady IR certification, the SL i.MX8M Mini can be seamlessly integrated into cloud-native software environments and supports a wide range of Linux distributions, including the Yocto distribution. Developers benefit from straightforward portability and rapid prototyping.

Performance & Architecture

The SL i.MX8M Mini features a high-speed quad-core Arm® Cortex®-A53 processor running up to 1.6 GHz. This multicore architecture enables efficient processing of complex tasks and supports compute-intensive system designs as well as demanding 3D graphics applications. Integrated 2D and 3D GPUs deliver smooth graphical performance, while the platform’s compatibility with Embedded Linux (Yocto) and regular security updates makes it an ideal, future-proof solution for IoT and edge applications.

Communication Interfaces

The module offers a wide range of interfaces, including 1GbE Ethernet, USB, serial ports, DIO, and an LCD interface.
