At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.

Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.

Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Ethernet Option

The Ethernet Option is a “combo interface” add-on for Wiener chassis, crates, and power supplies that enables remote monitoring and control via standard Ethernet networks.

The Ethernet Option allows Wiener crates and power supplies to be controlled and monitored over a LAN. Using standard Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols, the interface provides a web GUI and SNMP access to retrieve real-time information (voltages, currents, temperatures, fan speeds), issue control commands (ON/OFF, reset, fan speed), and integrate into networked monitoring systems. This simplifies remote operation and supervision of experimental setups or distributed instrumentation.

Interface Types: Ethernet (TCP/IP), CAN-bus, RS232 / USB in “combo interface” versions

Network Speeds: Auto-switching 10 M / 100 M Ethernet

Front-end Web Interface: Embedded WWW server (port 80) for basic control via browser (status, voltages, currents, temperature, fan speeds, ON/OFF, SYSRES)

SNMP Support: SNMP v2c over TCP/IP (port 69) for full parameter access (chassis, bin, supplies)

Ordering / Part Info: Option “EX” (Ethernet combo interface) can be configured for Wiener crates / power supplies
