At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Kontron sets a lead-free course with the new product Product Guide
RoHS requirements are implemented
Eching, June 23, 2005 - Almost 100% of the products in Kontrons new, 98 page Product Guide for 2005/2006 already conform to the EUs RoHS/lead-free directive (RoHS = Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive), or will do so by 1 July, 2006 at the latest. Thus, customers can already identify the products that will be converted on schedule, in accordance with the EU guidelines.
Along with application examples with standard and custom products in various market segments, the product Product Guide offers a complete overview of Kontrons extensive range of products, which stretches from modules and boards to systems and software up to application-ready platforms, covering embedded and rugged computer technologies. The Product Guide also contains new product lines such as AMC/AdvancedTCA, CompactPCI Value Line, ETXexpress, PISAeXpress, EPIC, MiniITX, JRex-IBox, new Panel PCs, and Rugged Mobile Workstations from the former DOLCH company.
