Eching, Germany, November 27, 2006 Today at the SPS/IPC/Drives fair in Nuremberg, Germany , Kontron introduced its new Panel-PC Kontron V Panel Express equipped with Intel® CoreTM Duo T2500 technology on a COM Express compliant, scaleable ETXexpress® Computer-On-Modules (COMs).
The brand new Kontron V Panel Express with embedded multi-core processor technology is ideal for running real time control, visualization (human machine interface) and other tasks such as security protocols and firewalls for tele-services simultaneously, whereas previously these applications had to be run on two or more dedicated systems. The Kontron V Panel Express is a tremendous cost-saver: OEMs now need only one IPC for multiple functions, each running on a separate core. Besides these brand new possibilities the Kontron V Panel Express is ideally suited for conventional high-end rugged computing applications such as industrial imaging including high-speed data transcoding and processing.
The innovative cooling concept allows for passive and fanless cooling at maximum processor performance. The display size is scalable from 12- to 17-inch.The front bezel is available in stainless steel and can be customized for an OEM specific look & feel.
The Kontron V Panel Express is a 100 percent industrial-grade HMI with a maximum RAM of 2 GBytes, and can be equipped with two CF Cards and up to two SATA hard drives. With a variety of interface options, such as two serial ports, five USB ports (1 x front and 4 x rear), 1x DVI-I, as well as two LAN 10/100/1000 Base-TX, the Kontron V Panel Express easily adapts to customer specific requirements. Two free PCI slots are available for expansion. Integrated watchdog and power management functions complete the package. The Kontron V Panel Express supports Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, as well as Linux and Embedded Linux.
The Kontron V Panel Express series are COM-based systems, compact, high performance human-machine interfaces for tough industrial demands. Optimal shock, vibration and temperature resistance, as well as resistance against environments with increased electromagnetic interference are standard. In addition, Kontron guarantees long-term availability of this in every part function approved system over the next five years, with all components in their original and functional identity and assembly.
