Kontron and Vantrix significantly advance solutions to optimize and monetize mobile video

High density transcoding solution reduces costs and cloud-based Big Data platform offers new insights into video usage patterns

Eching, Germany February 12, 2014 – Kontron and ISV partner Vantrix today announced a major collaboration to demonstrate high performance, cloud-enabled content delivery and analytics solutions during Mobile World Congress, February 24 – 27 in Barcelona, Spain.

The integrated platform provides operators with a cost-effective and scalable transcoding solution for video optimization and high-performance Big Data analytics for insights to monetize video traffic data. Both capabilities are also virtualized, with integrated application orchestration for private cloud or Network Functional Virtualization implementations.

The business challenge for mobile operators and content delivery cloud providers is how to prioritize bandwidth and compute resources in the network with maximum efficiency, whether deployed in the network or in a cloud-based infrastructure. This is coupled with the need to scale to meet fluctuations in demand and still increase ARPU (Average Revenue per User).

The combined video optimization and Big Data solution will be showcased at MWC 2014 on the Kontron Stand 5H19 | Hall 5. Kontron and Vantrix will demonstrate to both operators and cloud providers the following solutions:
• A high density transcoding solution for video optimization that reduces by 4x the raw CPU footprint required compared to current computing platforms, significantly improving the mobile video business case.
• A high performance Big Data platform that cuts processing time significantly, enabling rapid analysis of video traffic data for new insights into network optimization and subscriber monetization.
