Das ETX® Eval ist ein Evaluierungsboard im ATX-Format, das alle Kundenforderungen erfüllt. Zusätzlich zu den typischen Schnittstellen wie IDE, FDD, Parallel-Port und zwei seriellen Ports, bietet das Board einen RJ45 Ethernet Anschluss, zwei zusätzliche USB Ports sowie Anschlüsse für Lautsprecher und Mikrofon. Das Evaluierungsboard verfügt über vier PCI und drei ISA Steckplätze und wird über ATX oder BabyAT Stromversorgung angeschloßen. Eine Besonderheit ist der standardisierte FFC-Konnektor für LVDS Panels. Individuelle Kabeladapter werden nicht benötigt. Es heißt einfach nur "plug & work". Das absolute Highlight ist die skalierbare Prozessor-Performance. Über vier Stecker können verschiedene Prozessormodule aufgesteckt werden. Es können vom AMD Geode™ bis hin zu Intel® Core™2 Duo und allen kommenden Prozessoren nahezu alle Prozessortechnologien eingesetzt werden. Das macht den teuren Austausch des kompletten Motherboards überflüssig und Upgrades sehr einfach. Mit dieser Modularität empfiehlt sich das ETX® Eval als ideales Carrierboard für die Evaluierung eines ETX® Sytems und schon bevor der Kunde sein Hardwaresystem fertiggestellt hat, kann er mit der Software- und Applikationsentwicklung beginnen.
