Kontron presents its new KISS 1U Short KTQM87 rackmount server for demanding applications in industrial automation and process control at SPS 2014

Augsburg, November 2014 - Kontron, a leading provider of embedded computing technology, presents its new mini server, the KISS (Kontron Industrial Silent Server) 1U Short KTQM87. The industrial rackmount server with reduced installation depth offers the user high package density and processor performance based on the 4th generation of the Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors. The new system has 3 display ports, 4 USB 3.0 ports and offers flexible configuration with customer-specific upgrade options. Thanks to the integrated Intel HD graphics supporting DirectX 11.1, Open GL 4.0 and Open CL 1.2, the new KISS server offers 2D and 3D graphics performance at the level of dedicated graphics cards. The low-noise KISS 1U Short KTQM87 rackmount server is also impressive for its study build quality and it is used in industrial and building automation.
 
The new KISS 1U Short KTQM87 industrial rackmount server is based on the fourth generation of Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors with up to 3.8 GHz. Together with the Intel QM87 controller hub and a maximum memory capacity of 32 GB DDR3 RAM, it offers a broad performance spectrum and can be operated with the popular operating systems Windows 7, Windows Embedded Standard 7 32/64bit, Windows 8 and Linux.
 
Features in detail
A PCI Express x16 expansion slot enables customer-specific system layouts with standard-based expansion cards. The Kontron KISS 1U Short KTQM87 also offers wide-ranging peripheral and networking options via 8 USB 2.0 ports (6 rear, 2 front) and 3 GbE-LAN ports. Thanks to Intel AMT 7.0 support, the industrial rackmount server also enables simplified maintenance for higher system availability and lower overall costs. For data storage, along with a shock-protected internal 2.5" slot, there are slots accessible from the front for a 3.5" hard disk and a slim DVD drive. Hard disk access is extremely fast thanks to SATA 6Gb/s support. The optional Kontron KISS Stor Slim RAID 1 subsystem with two hot-swappable 2.5" hard disks offers extra data security.
