At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Ismaning, April 26, 2021 – Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), achieved the reader´s choice award of the Computer&AUTOMATION for its latest D3713-V/R mini-ITX motherboard in the “IPC & Embedded Computing” category.
More than 6100 readers took part in the vote for the “Product of the Year 2021” and cast almost 50,000 votes in twelve different product categories. The Kontron D3713-V/R mITX motherboard beat out seven competitors in the "IPC & Embedded Computing" category to take first place. Kontron would like to take this opportunity to thank the readers for their numerous votes. A big thank you also goes to all customers, partners, suppliers and colleagues for their support and loyalty in the last year.
The D3713-V/R mITX is the first motherboard launched under Kontron after the successful transition of the Fujitsu Mainboard Business. It is based on the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded V1000 and R1000 platform including the AMD Vega™ graphics. Thanks to the enormous scalability of computing power, functionality and TDP values from 6 to 54W it is ideally suited for a wide variety of customer requirements in different markets with only one system design. In addition to the motherboard, a suitable chassis kit solution, the SMARTCASE™ S711, is also available.
