Performance and Energy Efficiency in a Rugged, Carrier-Grade Design
The Carrier Grade Server TIGW1U is a NEBS-3 and ETSI-compliant carrier-grade rack server. It supports the Intel® Xeon® processor L5410, as well as 64-bit Intel® Xeon® processors LV 5148 and LV 5128.
This server is an excellent choice for the demanding environment and limited space of the central office and highly available data centers. It is also ideal for Services over IP (SoIP) for next-generation telecom solutions and communications networks. Offered as a standard building block, the Intel Carrier Grade Server TIGW1U enables OEMs and TEMs to create their own value-added solutions for a variety of telecom applications including unified messaging, SoIP, call control, media and signaling gateways, and operational system support. In addition, the TIGW1U raises the bar for telecom solutions with support for Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology (Intel® I/OAT)◊, Intel® 64 Technology (Intel® 64)◊ and dual-channel Fully Buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM) technology at either 533 or 667 MHz for maximized bandwidth.

BMC 28 update package
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES (found in HarbisonReleaseNotes.txt) If a BMC is installed and functional: 1) Update the BMC firmware using UpFW.bat. 2) Update the SDR & FRUs with the FRU/SDR package. To recover non-functional BMC (possible if M28W flash part has v00.27 or earlier applied): 1) Copy the update files from this release package to the media (Hard Drive, USB Disk-on-Key, Floppy...) that you wish to perform the update from. 2) Update the BMC flash by running UpPFlash.bat. You must then A/C power cycle with power off for at least 30 seconds. 3) Update the SDR & FRUs with the FRU/SDR package. 4) Subsequent updates of the BMC FW should use UpFW.bat.

AutoGrab Event Log Collection Utility
1) Download the grab .iso file from the link provided in the autograb.htm file.
2) Follow the instructions to make the USB stick bootable.
3) Boot the server to the USB stick. If boot priority is enabled in the BIOS it should boot to the USB stick. If it doesn't boot to the USB stick then go to the BIOS and set the boot order to boot from your USB device first.
4) A script will automatically run after the system has booted into SLAX Linux and gather the event logs to the /capture directory. Note: Do not remove the USB stick until the system shuts down. It is during these last few seconds that the logs are copied to the USB stick. These logs can be submitted to technical support to help diagnose system issues remotely. The email address for technical support is included in the autograb.txt file.

Improving Server Management with the Right IPMI Tools for Your Implementation. The aim of server management is to help service systems via controls and information retrieved from sensors so that problems can be diagnosed early, quickly and, before they become overly critical. IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a standard interface used by many vendors to support all of these server management functions, either locally or remotely. IPMI-based management activities take place in the management controller firmware, instead of using the extra bandwidth from the main processor, which would reduce its production capacity. Using IPMI for server management enables the management of any large numbers of servers without spending the extra time and cost of on-site visits, and administrators can manage many different vendors’ systems with the same software, thereby reducing each server’s total cost of ownership.
