CompactPCI Serial is an industrial standard for modular computer systems defined by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) as CPCI-S.0. Unlike classic CompactPCI systems based on parallel PCI buses, CompactPCI Serial exclusively uses high-speed serial point-to-point connections, enabling modern system architectures without the need for switches or bridges in configurations with one system slot and up to eight peripheral slots.
Building on the evolution of the established PICMG 2.0 CompactPCI standard, Kontron Hartmann Wiener GmbH offers high-quality CompactPCI Serial power backplane solutions designed for demanding industrial applications. The use of a rugged connector technology enables high signal density while maintaining proven 19-inch mechanics according to IEC 1101 and supporting hot-swap capable system designs.
The 3U CompactPCI Serial Power Backplanes are available in 1-slot and 2-slot variants and support a universal input voltage for both AC and DC operation. Power is fed via M3 studs for +12 V and +5 V standby, ensuring secure and reliable power delivery. With an extended operating temperature range, high humidity tolerance, and robust FR-4 base material, these backplanes are well suited for harsh industrial environments where reliability and longevity are critical.
