At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.

Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.

Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

VPX 6U Load Board

The VPX 6U Load Board is a test card designed to simulate resistive loads on VPX systems, enabling comprehensive electrical and thermal testing.

It includes automatic thermal protection that powers down the board if temperatures exceed 120 °C and automatically restarts after cooling.

The VPX 6U Load Board provides precise resistive load simulation across multiple voltage rails in a 6U, 5HP or 6HP form factor. It enables engineers to test power supply capacity and thermal behavior under realistic conditions. The board features automatic over-temperature shutdown and voltage/temperature sensing for detailed system analysis.

• +5 V: 0 A to 15 A in 1 A steps
• +12 V: 0 A to 10 A in 0.66 A steps
• +12 V AUX: 0.66 A (ON/OFF)
• –12 V AUX: 0.66 A (ON/OFF)
• +3.3 V AUX: 1 A (ON/OFF)

Control Voltage: 5 V required

Voltage & Temperature Measurement:
• Voltage measurement points near P0 and P1 connectors
• 4 temperature sensing points: front bottom, front top, rear bottom, rear top
• Measurement points accessible via front-panel X1 connector

Thermal Protection: Automatic shut-off if temperature exceeds 120 °C ± 5 K; re-energizes after cooling
