The System-on-Module (SoM) SL STM32 MP157 from Kontron Electronics impresses with its compact design of 25.5 mm x 25.5 mm, powerful processing capabilities and advanced graphics functions, specifically developed for demanding visualization and communication applications. Its small form factor supports flexible installation options, even where space is limited, and makes integration into space-constrained designs much easier.
Performance & Architecture
At the heart of the module lies the STM32MP157A, featuring two Arm® Cortex®-A7 cores for efficient application processing. The architecture is further enhanced by an integrated 3D graphics unit, enabling the display of complex visualizations. With up to 512 MB of DDR3 RAM and an equally sized NAND flash, the module offers ample memory for demanding applications. The System-on-Module (SoM), running on Linux (Yocto Distribution), supports modern visualization solutions—including web content—as well as the integration of touch displays and wireless technologies for future-oriented IoT applications. Utilizing embedded Linux ensures an open and scalable software foundation, making customization and integration straightforward.
Communication Interfaces
The SL STM32 MP157 is equipped with a wide range of interfaces: these include Ethernet (10/100 Mbit/s, with integrated PHY), USB, CAN FD for modern bus communication, SDIO, I²C, numerous digital and analogue I/Os, as well as an LCD interface for graphical output. This versatility enables direct connectivity to a wide variety of sensors, actuators and external devices. Thanks to its comprehensive communication options, the module can be easily integrated into existing and complex system environments, thereby supporting the implementation of a wide range of industrial and IoT applications.
