The OSM-S i.MX8M Mini from Kontron Electronics is a versatile system-on-module that leverages the advantages of the OSM standard specifically for demanding embedded applications. Thanks to the OSM standard, the OSM-S i.MX8M Mini is designed as a directly solderable module without connectors, enabling particularly cost-effective and efficient automated assembly. Combined with the high performance of the NXP i.MX8M Mini processor in a compact 30 x 30 mm form factor, the SoM module offers an optimal solution for projects where space requirements, energy efficiency, and computing power are equally critical.
Performance & Architecture
The OSM-S i.MX8M Mini delivers powerful performance with 4x Arm® Cortex®-A53 cores running at 1.6 GHz. The integrated 2D/3D graphics processor enables smooth user interfaces and hardware-accelerated graphics. Its multi-core architecture ensures efficient parallel processing and a balanced ratio of performance to energy consumption -making it ideal for compute-intensive applications and image processing.
Communication Interfaces
The module features a wide range of interfaces, including digital I/Os, serial ports, PWM, two SDIO connectors, a Gigabit Ethernet port (GbE), and two USB 2.0 OTG interfaces. In addition, the OSM-S i.MX8M Mini offers flexible options for connecting peripheral devices, such as I²C, SPI, and UART, as well as support for audio and display interfaces, enabling versatile integration into a variety of embedded applications.
