The AL i.MX8M Mini LTE from the Automation-Line series by Kontron Electronics is a compact, fanless IoT Gateway designed for DIN rail mounting, tailored for demanding control tasks as well as mobile and wireless IoT solutions. With its robust stainless-steel housing and flexible DIN rail installation, it is especially suited for industrial applications and environments that require reliability and security.

Performance & Architecture
At the heart of the Gateway is the NXP i.MX8M Mini processor with four Arm® Cortex®-A53 cores (1.6 GHz) and one Arm® Cortex®-M4 (400 MHz), supported by a 2D/3D GPU. The system features up to 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, complemented by various storage options such as NOR Flash and eMMC. It runs on the secure, hardened KontronOS Linux operating system and offers Secure Boot as well as two redundant partitions for maximum availability and data protection; Embedded Linux (Yocto distribution) is also available as an option.

Communication Interfaces
The AL i.MX8M Mini LTE is equipped with a versatile range of interfaces: Ethernet (1x 1 Gbit/s, 1x 10/100 Mbit/s), USB (2x 2.0 Host, 1x 2.0 OTG), serial ports (RS232, RS485), CAN 2.0 B, and four digital I/Os (24 V/up to 800 mA). Wireless communication is provided by the integrated LTE Cat1 module with Nano-SIM slot, which enables reliable mobile connectivity for IoT applications—ideal when integration into the company network is not possible.
