The AL CAN I/O module from Kontron Electronics, part of the Automation-Line series, is an exceptionally compact and versatile multifunctional module, specifically designed for demanding automation and IoT applications. Its robust housing and flexible mounting options—whether on a DIN rail, directly on the CPU, or as an open frame—enable optimal integration into a wide range of environments.
Performance & Architecture
The module features a powerful STM32F103 microcontroller, with 1x Arm® Cortex®-M3 32-bit MCU running at 72 MHz, and provides a total of 34 I/O channels: 12 digital inputs, including 2 fast 32-bit counters up to 100 kHz; 12 digital outputs, 4 of which can be used as PWM channels up to 24 kHz at 0.8 A; 4 analog inputs (0–10 V, 0–20 mA, 12-bit); 4 analog outputs (0–10 V, 12-bit); and 2 PT100 temperature channels for precise measurements from -40°C to +125°C. Up to 15 modules can be easily combined to expand the number of available channels.
Communication Interfaces
Connection is flexibly established via the CAN bus with transmission rates of up to 1 Mbit/s. All inputs and outputs are designed for industrial use with spring-cage terminals, ensuring a secure and reliable connection.
