Modular and powerful: Kontron adds the new KBox C-104-RPL series to its industrial computer family

New modular Box PC with 13th Gen Intel® Core™ processors for maximum flexibility and performance

Augsburg

Augsburg, Germany, November 24, 2025 – Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), is presenting a new generation of its high-end industrial computers at SPS 2025 in Nuremberg – the KBox C-104-RPL family. Based on 13th Gen Intel® Core™ mobile processors (code name ‘Raptor Lake’) with up to 45W TDP, the Box PCs combine high computing power with a robust, flexible system design. The CPUs used have up to 14 cores and offer sufficient performance for demanding edge workloads and high-end applications with high bandwidth.

The systems in the new KBox C-104-RPL series are based on powerful 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i3/i5/i7 processors with up to 14 cores (6 performance cores and 8 efficient cores), which are based on Intel® Performance Hybrid Architecture. These processors offer impressive computing power, making them the ideal basis for demanding real-time applications, machine learning, or processing large amounts of data.

Thanks to the unique modular system approach, the systems in the KBox C-104-RPL family can be individually configured: from a compact version without expansion slots to a fully equipped version with four PCIe slots. This makes the systems suitable for both simple control tasks and complex applications that require additional I/O, GPU, or communication cards.

For maximum flexibility, there are three M.2 slots and one mPCIe slot inside, which can be used to integrate mass storage devices, fieldbuses, NVRAM expansion, radio modules, or even AI accelerators. This allows the systems of the KBox C-104-RPL family to be tailored precisely to the requirements of a wide variety of industrial projects, whether in the field of machine control, inspection, or AI inference.

The industrial PCs of the KBox C-104-RPL family are specially designed for use in control cabinets in automation environments. The robust metal housing, optimized thermal design, and use of high-quality industrial components ensure reliable continuous operation even under demanding environmental conditions. In addition, the absence of moving components for storage, passive cooling, and the optional use of gold caps reduces service requirements to virtually zero (maintenance-free), which further increases the reliability of these systems while minimizing operating costs.

All variants of the KBox C-104-RPL have up to three display ports and four 2.5GbE interfaces, one to two COM ports including RS485 option, three USB 3.2 and three USB 2.0 ports, and two SATA slots.

The first samples of the new KBox C-104-RPL series will be available from the beginning of February 2026.
