Kontron AIS and Ecoprogetti Enter into Strategic Collaboration for Integrated Solar Module Manufacturing

Dresden, November 3, 2026 – Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing technology (ECT), offers industrial software for cross-industry automation solutions through its subsidiary Kontron AIS GmbH. Kontron AIS and Ecoprogetti are entering into a strategic collaboration in the field of solar module manufacturing. Photovoltaic module manufacturers will benefit from a coordinated end-to-end solution combining the production line and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) from a single source.

Ecoprogetti develops and implements automated production lines for solar module manufacturing. As part of the strategic collaboration, Kontron AIS complements this equipment expertise with FabEagle®MES, a Manufacturing Execution System that controls production processes, performs data acquisition, enables traceability, and supports quality management. Customers receive an MES tailored to Ecoprogetti’s turnkey lines, reducing integration effort, accelerating commissioning, and creating a reliable data foundation for scaling production.

Jointly Developed Standard Solution for Automated Solar Module Factories

With this partnership, Kontron AIS and Ecoprogetti are creating the technological foundation for future-ready photovoltaic production. Today, solar module manufacturers need not only highly automated production equipment, but also end-to-end transparency and monitoring of material flows, process data, quality information, and production KPIs. As part of the collaboration, Ecoprogetti therefore supplies module production lines with standardized data interfaces. Kontron AIS provides FabEagle®MES as the software solution aligned with the module production line in terms of interfaces and functionality. This includes production control, material tracking, process and machine data acquisition, reporting, and integration with higher-level IT systems such as ERP. The result is a structured data foundation that supports advanced analytics and AI applications.

Faster Commissioning and Reduced Integration Effort

The coordinated integration of the module production line and MES reduces integration effort for solar module manufacturers. Interfaces, data flows, and functions can be defined in advance. This simplifies project planning, accelerates commissioning, and creates a standardized foundation for stable production operations.

FabEagle®MES supports solar module manufacturing by managing the release and recording of material consumption batches, module inspection and rework, the configuration and monitoring of automated palletizing processes, and the acquisition of quality-relevant process and material data. At the same time, the system enables manufacturers to evaluate production KPIs and continuously improve quality, throughput, and equipment availability.
