Electronics² Showcases 5G Expertise from Development to Series Production at EFX

Linz, September 29, 2026 – Kontron, a global leader in IoT/ Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), will show at EFX 2026, under its Electronics² service brand, how electronics projects can be implemented from the initial product idea and development through series production. A key focus of Kontron’s trade show presence is the development and production of 5G modules in Germany. Kontron Electronics, KATEK, and Kontron Automotive will present their capabilities as part of the Electronics² network in Hall 9, Booth A36 in Stuttgart, from October 6 to 8, 2026.

5G Expertise for Connected Vehicles, Made in Germany

The development and manufacture of key technologies, such as 5G modules, in Europe is becoming increasingly important ­– particularly for applications where connectivity, availability, and long-term supply are critical. Kontron develops and manufactures such solutions in Germany. One area of application is the automotive industry, where mobile data transmission, connectivity, and software-based vehicle architectures are becoming increasingly important.

On Wednesday 7 October, from 11:30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. at the EFX Bar, Dennis Löffler of Kontron Automotive and Jörg Trodler (Trodler-EAVT) will explain how an initial product idea becomes a production-ready 5G module. The presentation will outline the individual steps involved from development to series production in Germany. Key topics will include the qualification and optimization of manufacturing processes, the selection and analysis of materials, process control, and quality assurance.

From Prototype to Series Production with Robust Processes

Under the Electronics² service brand, Kontron bundles specialized services for implementing custom electronics projects. Depending on the project phase and production volume, the network provides development, prototyping, industrialization, and manufacturing services. Technologies and solutions from the Kontron Group portfolio can also be incorporated into projects. Integrating Development, Manufacturing, and Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity is also considered from the outset within the Electronics² network. Robust processes and secure infrastructure in development and manufacturing provide the foundation for addressing requirements such as the NIS2 Directive, the Cyber Resilience Act, and the ISO/IEC 27001 standard during the development and industrialization of connected products. As a result, long-term security and future readiness are incorporated into project implementation at an early stage, alongside development and manufacturing expertise.
