One of the new challenges arising with the use of edge, fog, and cloud architectures is the connection of components to each other and to the public cloud. An important element of developing a solution capturing all pieces is the IoT framework susietec
At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

MediClient: New medical all-in-one Panel PC from Kontron
The MediClient with special anti-glare and anti-fingerprint display for best readability meets the high hygienic requirements in the medical sector
Ismaning, October 28, 2021 - Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), introduces a new all-in-one panel PC that meets the stringent hygiene and connectivity requirements in the medical and healthcare sector. The system is compliant with DIN EN 60601-1 and is particularly suitable for use in nurses’ stations, operating rooms, intensive care units, laboratories as well as pharmacies and clean rooms.
With its robust, joint-free front made of continuous tempered glass, the MediClient is easy to clean. The rear of the device, made of powder-coated stainless steel, is just as easy to clean and disinfect and ensures lasting mechanical stability. The PCAP touch display with anti-glare and anti-fingerprint surface finish can be operated even with overlapping medical gloves and is perfectly readable even in difficult lighting conditions. The touchscreen in 16:9 format detects drops (drop rejection) and supports palm rejection. Easy integration into the infrastructure is enabled by the integrated power supply, which is isolated according to EN 60601-1. Data transfer between different medical devices and hospital information systems is ensured by wireless interfaces (WiFi, BT) and the EN 60601-1 certified and isolated interfaces. In addition, the MediClient supports the SDC standard (Service-oriented Device Connectivity) and thus standardized communication across manufacturer boundaries.
The new MediClient has a special design feature: the device consists of two separable functional units – the display unit with display and PCAP touch as well as the computing unit with CPU and memory, so that both units are easily exchangeable in case of service requirements. The Kontron MediClient All-in-one Panel PC is shock and vibration resistant and offers numerous standard interfaces with compact dimensions, including 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2, 2 x GbE (2 MOOP), 3 x RS232 (2 MOOP) and 2 x DP++.
The fanless design ensures silent operation and high reliability with an MTBF of more than 50,000 hours. Thanks to VESA 100 mounting, the panel PC can be mounted on swivel arms or wall mounts in just a few steps. The MediClient supports Windows 10 IOT and Linux and is equipped with Intel® Core™ i5-8365UE processors or Intel® Celeron® 4305UE processors as standard.
Customized solutions can be implemented quickly and cost-effectively, from flexibility in computing performance and memory expansion, to application-specific touch settings, I/O customizations, security hardening of BIOS and operating system, software installation, individual branding, customized service and repair kits, up to special packaging.
The MediClient with 21.5" touchscreen is available immediately. Variants with 23.8" display and a monitor variant will be added in early 2022.
