Senior Software Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA, United States of America.

Kontron is looking for an Embedded Linux Platform software engineer to join our expanding software division. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining BSP's, Embedded API's and device drivers for Kontron's single board computers. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, work well with cross functional teams and have solid experience developing BSPs for Linux platforms.

Your duties

Develop Linux BSPs, device drivers and APIs for Kontron platforms
Debug and support platform software and custom OS requirements with minimum input
Work collaboratively with internal and external stake holders in addressing software issues during all phases of product development
Participate in all phases of a product development cycle from product design, through implementation, debugging, testing, qualification and customer support.

Skills required

BS with 8+ years of experience or MS with 5+ years of experience
Experience with Linux internals- kernel and driver development
Experience with developing and porting custom Board Support Packages (BSPs)- Yocto, Timesys, etc.
Knowledge of SOCs, x86/ARM and PC architecture
Solid C/C++ programming experience
Excellent understanding of bus architectures and h/w interfaces: PCIe, 12c, LPC, USB, SMBUS, SPI, eDP, JEDEC standards, EEEP
Good understanding of UEFI/BIOS related specifications: ACPI, SMBIOS, UEFI BDS&CSM, BBS, TXT, PXE, storage protocols
Board bring-up experience- Collaborate with h/w, CPLD, and firmware engineers in-house and Silicon/BIOS vendors
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment often interacting with internal and external customers

Skills desired

• Experience with Windows BSPs and boot loaders • Scripting language experience- UEFI shell programming, Python • Knowledge of embedded specifications: LVDS, eDP, HDMI, ULPI
