Kontron CP307: Kontron’s 3HE CompactPCI-Board with Intel® Core™ Duo/Solo Processors

Eching/Stuttgart, Germany, March 7th, 2006 - Kontron introduces the Kontron CP307, a 3U high-performance CompactPCI CPU assembly, equipped with the Intel® CoreTM Duo T2500 (2 GHz) / Intel Core Duo L2400 (1,6 GHz) or Intel Core Solo processor T1300 (1.6 GHz) and Intel 945GM Express chipset and ICH7-R Southbridge. It offers record-breaking performance per watt for CompactPCI in 3U because the new dual-core technology that has almost twice the performance of the Intel® Pentium® M in the same layout, but only slightly higher power consumption. PCI Express for high I/O bandwidths rounds out the CPU, which is streamlined for performance. Designed with soldered processor and memory to handle the toughest environmental conditions, the Kontron CP307 can be used in robust intensive care applications with little required space on land, water, or in the air. to name just a few. It will be possible to implement applications such as endoscope visualization with multiple cameras, together with a simultaneous video-conference with a specialist doctor plus PACS access and patient monitoring in one system with various operating systems when required, which drastically reduces hardware costs.

The Kontron CP307 offers dazzling performance thanks to the Core Duo technology with 2 GHz dual-core frequency, 667 MHz front side bus, DDR2-SDRAM expandable up to 4GB with a frequency of 533/667 MHz, 10.6 Gbit/s data throughput, and comprehensive communication interfaces: on board are 2 x GBit Ethernet, up to 6 x USB 2.0, two SATA interfaces, and a CompactFlash slot, for which storage media up to 8 GB are currently available. The graphics accelerator integrated into the Mobile Intel 945GM Express provides excellent 2D, 3D, and video features for VGA and DVI, with dual operation possible. The CPU board is available as single slot (4HP) or dual slot (8HP). In the 8HP version, Kontron’s CP307 offers additional legacy support, LPC, COM, DVI, and 2,5” SATA carriers. It also supports rear I/O assemblies, which makes customer-specific designs for the system very flexible. Kontron also provides a version of the CP307 in extended temperature range with a specific processor on request.

Board support packages are offered for Windows XP, XP Embedded, Linux, and VxWorks.

Samples of the Kontron CP307 with a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor will be available from Q2, 2006. Serial production will begin in Q3, 2006.
