SAN DIEGO, CA - NOVEMBER 18, 1998 - ICS Advent announcesits new Model 7490 Series of 15-slot, medium-capacity, rack-mount chassis. The versatile 7490 Series brings a "smorgasbord" approach to system design that allows users to virtually "custom configure" a standard off-the-shelf system to their own unique requirements. By means of an easy three-part ordering guide, users can select from a variety of base models, backplanes and power supply options for more than 40 different system combinations in either medium gray or black finish.Typical uses for the 7490 Series include computer telephony, industrial automation, security systems and other high-reliability applications requiring medium drive capacity and up to fifteen full-length AT expansion slots. 7490 Series models provide the flexibility and convenience of being able to specify a choice of bus structures, including 15-slot (single or split) ISA or ISA/PCI passive backplane, Pentium® II processor backplane or a mount for Baby AT or ATX motherboards.Up to seven externally accessed drives may be installed. In addition to two each 5.25" half-height and 3.5" low profile drives, an internal bay contains a choice of three low-profile (1.0" height) or two half-height (1.6" height) 3.5" fixed disk drives. Made by ICS Advent, the 7490 easily installs in any 19" equipment rack or, alternatively, the rack ears may be removed if benchtop use is desired. The 40-lb chassis is made of 18-gauge cold rolled steel and provides multiple rear-panel knockouts for easy installation of auxiliary drive bays, power supplies or other external devices. Other chassis design features a lockable front access to system controls for added system security and two 47cfm hot-swap filtered cooling fans.
