Kontron Mobile Computing Introduces Next-Generation Envoy Mobile Data Server with Larger, Brighter Display and Faster Processors
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - (Feb. 19, 2003) - Kontron Mobile Computing, Inc. (OTC BB: KMBC), today introduced the next-generation EnVoy Mobile Data Server - an advanced mobile computing system designed specifically for installation and use in squad cars and other professional service vehicles.
One of the company´s flagship products, the new EnVoy features key enhancements that include a 12.1-inch, 1400 nit display and a user-specified 1.06 GHz or 700 MHz processor - all at a lower price.
"As always, the EnVoy is designed from the ground up specifically for vehicles - where space is at a premium, safety is a top concern and reliability has to be a given," said Dale Szymborski, president. With real-time data generation, capture and transmission capabilities now a "must-have" for public safety and other mobile computing applications, the EnVoy has the features that turn a vehicle into a mobile command center. Key EnVoy specifications now include:
Powerful processing. The EnVoy´s 1.06 GHz Intel. Pentium. III-M or 700 MHz Intel Pentium III processors are Kontron Mobile Computing´s fastest in-vehicle processors used to date.
Ample RAM and removable storage, with a 40GB, removable hard drive (expandable to 60 GB), 128MB of DRAM (upgradeable to 640MB) with 8MB to 48MB of video DRAM.
Round-the-clock readability with a daylight- and sunlight-readable, 12.1-inch, 1024x768 XGA, 1400 nit display. It also features a new, advanced touch screen designed to function even when damaged, and a full-sized keyboard with nighttime key lighting.
Impressive connectivity with three RS-232 ports, one dual-channel USB port and one parallel port. The EnVoy also features two open PC Card slots with Card Bus accommodating one Type III or two Type II devices.
Ruggedness tested to independent specifications, with a lightweight aluminum chassis and a solid, unitized construction, protecting components from shock and vibration.
Wide operating temperature and humidity ranges, with operation from minus 15 degrees C up to 60 degrees C made possible by the EnVoy´s fanless cooling system.
Operating system support for Windows 98, 2000 and XP.
