Kontron Mobile Computing Announces Earnings for First Quarter 2002

Reports Fifth Consecutive Quarter of Positive Operating Income

Eden Prairie, Minn., April 24, 2002 - Kontron Mobile Computing (OTC BB: KMBC) today announced financial results for first quarter 2002.

The company reported operating income of $384,000 for first quarter 2002, compared to $561,000 for first quarter 2001. Net income for first quarter 2002 was $174,000, or $.01 per share, on revenues of $3.2 million, compared to net income of $554,000, or $.04 per share, on revenues of $5.0 million for first quarter 2001.

"Last year at this time, we reported the most profitable quarter in our history," said Thomas Sparrvik, CEO. "While first quarter 2002 was not as strong, and while the first quarter of our fiscal year is typically our slowest in terms of sales, we´re pleased to once again report a profitable quarter and our fifth consecutive quarter of positive operating income. In light of this sustained performance in the midst of a challenging economy, and with the expected availability later this year of a significant new product, the ReVolution, we look to the balance of 2002 confident that we are on the right path for success."

Significant events during the first quarter included the company´s unveiling of the ReVolution, the world´s first rugged, mobile notebook and tablet PC in one, expected to be available during the second half of 2002. During the quarter, the company also announced the appointment of Dale Szymborski to president.

Company executives will host a conference call at 10 a.m. CDT today to discuss first quarter results. Participants are invited to dial 212-676-4916 a few minutes prior to the start of the conference call.
