Kontron ETXexpress-MC Available for Immediate Evaluation

Newest COM Express Module with Intel Multi-Core Architecture Packs a Powerful Punch

BOSTON, September 19, 2007 – Initially introduced in June, the Kontron ETXexpress-MC – a COM Express solution – is now available for evaluation by designers worldwide giving them a true high performance core for the most advanced embedded applications. With this addition to the Kontron ETXexpress family of Computer-On-Modules (COMs), the company now offers the widest selection of COM Express modules that are suitable for embedded applications ranging from point of sale/information kiosks and mobile data acquisition systems to medical 3-D image scanners, automation systems, and other multi-display applications.

Built around the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processors (4MB L2, 800FSB) and Intel® GM965 chipset, the Kontron ETXexpress-MC is the highest performing COM currently available. The increased frequencies and throughput on CPU, Front-Side-Bus and DRAM allow for a significant increase in system performance compared to existing solutions. The Kontron ETXexpress-MC offers the X3100 Graphic Media Accelerator complete with support for 24 Bit LVDS , meeting the requirements of embedded applications that call for advanced video capabilities. The Kontron ETXexpress-MC supports dual-channel memory up to 4GB via two DDR2 SO-DIMM sockets positioned on the top side of the module. This module follows the COM Express Type 2 pin out and has 5x PCI Express x1 lanes, 3x Serial—ATA ports, and 8x USB 2.0 ports along with Gigabit Ethernet to round out the list of standard features. The inclusion of onboard TPM 1.2 ensures that the Kontron ETXexpress-MC is a perfect fit for power and thermal sensitive designs.
