Fieldworks Directors Elect Thomas Sparrvik New President and CEO

Appointment Expected to Be Effective Later This Month

Eden Prairie, Minn., USA, November 2, 2000 - FieldWorks, Inc. (OTCBB: FWRX), announced today that the companys board of directors has named Thomas Sparrvik president and chief executive officer, effective and contingent upon the closing of the companys recent, previously announced transactions with Kontron Embedded Computers AG and the receipt of required authorizations and approvals from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.

David G. Mell will continue to serve as president and CEO of FieldWorks until the closing of the Kontron transactions, expected later this month. Mell will continue to serve as a director of the company following the closing.

A Swedish national, Sparrvik, 35, is an experienced senior executive with a successful record of directing sales, administration and other operations at technology companies. Previously, Sparrvik was managing director at Laserstans AB, Sweden, a manufacturer of precision metal goods for industry. Prior to that, he was managing director at Betech Components AB, Sweden, a supplier of industrial computers, displays and automation products. He is formerly a project manager for the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV), an agency that defines, develops, procures and delivers the materiel systems of the Swedish Armed Forces.

Sparrvik holds an MBA from the Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, Coventry, England; an MSc in electrical engineering from Lund University, Lund, Sweden; and a BA in electrical and telecommunications from Pauli College, Malmoe, Sweden.
