At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Kontron withdraws from participating in embedded world 2020
Augsburg, February 19, 2020 - Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), announces that it will not be attending the embedded world trade fair from February 25-27 in Nuremberg this year.
After carefully monitoring the situation, and due to recent developments related to the Corona virus (Covid-19), Kontron has taken a number of precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of its employees worldwide. In this context, the difficult decision not to attend embedded world 2020, one of the most important trade fairs for IoT/Embedded, was taken today as part of Kontron's risk management.
Kontron would like to thank all customers, partners and the NürnbergMesse GmbH for their understanding and looks forward to exhibit at embedded world 2021 again as usual.
