    The ATSU was designed to bring broadband internet connectivity to commercial aircraft. In a single conduction-cooled, 6MCU chassis, AP Avionx/AP Labs (now Kontron) was the systems designer and developer for Verizon Airfone. The ATSU included an ATG EV-DO Rev. A modem, an embedded terrestrial modem, PICMG 2.16 cPCI 24-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch, GPS, ARINC 429, two rotating hard disk drives, conduction-cooled cPCI processor card.
