Maintenance via the Internet

Server with extensive service functions

Munich, Germany, April 10, 2002 - With the 19-inch server, ExP206, Kontron is introducing a powerful PC solution with low spatial requirements and which is in particular predestined for the market of telecommunications applications.

The server in 2U format (installation depth 457 mm) is equipped with a dual PIII processor (up to 1.2 GHz) and exhibits two main features:

The redundant 64-bit high speed PCI dual link network card with redundant input changes channel automatically when the first channel fails; downtimes are therefore drastically reduced.
The voltage-independent remote maintenance board, E-RIC, saves expensive maintenance and service work on site: With this card the server can be booted via the Internet, it can trigger a hard reset and realise keyboard and VideoMouse control via the Internet. In addition the BIOS can be accessed in this way during the boot sequence.
The rest of the computer design is also kept very service-friendly. Service inputs and outputs are located at the front, substantially simplifying servicing and upgrade work. Components, such as power supply, fans and SCA drives, are provided in "hot-swappable" versions, enabling replacement to take place during running operation.

The ExP206 Server is available immediately.
