Kontron Announces Three Long-Life Motherboards to Support Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processors

New Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processors Supported by Kontron 986LCD-M Family

San Jose, Calif., April 4, 2007 – Today during the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley, Kontron launched a family of embedded motherboards that supports the new Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7400. This new 2 x 2.16 GHz processor delivers 64-bit technology and 4MB shared L2 cache that can be dynamically assigned to each of the cores. The new product family consists of three basic products in different form factors: ATX, Flex-ATX and Mini-ITX. The Kontron 986LCD-M/mITX is the smallest and most dense board with a compact size of only 17cm x 17 cm and one extension slot. The Kontron 986LCD-M/FLEX and the Kontron 986LCD-M/ATX offer the same feature set, but have three and six I/O slots respectively. All three boards are based on the Intel® 945GM Express + ICH7R Embedded Chipset. The Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor and on-board Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 provide extreme performance for embedded applications with low power consumption. Each board is designed for processor and graphics intensive applications such as: gaming, medical technology, multi media, point of information, point of sale, data communications and high-end thin clients.

The Kontron 986LCD-M family has superior graphics performance with Intel’s next generation on-board graphics controller - the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The board is also equipped with various video outputs, such as on-board LVDS, 16x PCI-Express slot and dual digital LCD drives, supported via the SDVO interface by ADD2 cards.

The various interfaces offered by the Kontron 986LCD-M family meet and exceed the latest standard offerings for embedded motherboards:
