New Kontron 6U VPX Multi-Processing Board with Intel® Xeon® processor D-1500 product family

Compute-intensive and Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) optimized 6U VPX board featuring dual Intel® Xeon® 8-Core server class processors and 2-D graphics interface

Toulon, France, March 30, 2017 – Kontron, a leading global provider of Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), today announced a new 6U VPX multi-processing board with Intel® Xeon® processor D-1500 product family Octa-Core CPUs.

Kontron VX6090 combines dense processing with rich standard-based communication fabrics and I/O connectivity to form an ideal, flexible platform for SWaP-constrained missions. It is therefore equally suitable for streaming radar signals, image-processing and embedded server-type applications.

The 6U OpenVPX™-compliant VX6090 features a dual-node architecture with 8-core 2 GHz Intel Xeon D processors, AVX2 SIMD extensions, up to 32 GB of on-board soldered DDR4 (with ECC), up to 24 MB of high speed cache memory and an embedded 2-D SM750 graphics controller per node.

Each VX6090’s node provides dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet, two 1 Gb Ethernet controllers and M.2 slots for data storage on COTS SSD devices. In addition, SATA, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, serials and GPIOs are available on the front panel and to the rear backplane. For further I/O expansion, the VX6090 is also available with an optional XMC site.

Adding advanced security, the Kontron’s VX6090 integrates a TPM secure element and offers security protection with trusted boot, authentication by TPM and secure boot solutions.

The VX6090 is available in Standard commercial Air-cooled and in Rugged Air-cooled grades and offers the right balance of performance, scalability and SWaP optimization for critical applications in the Military, Avionics and Transportation market segments.
