Are Tin, Tantalum Tungsten and Gold (3T&G) necessary to the functionality or production of Kontron’s products?

Yes. Most Kontron products will contain at least one of those substances present in the components or materials necessary to build Kontron products.

Has Kontron done a risk analysis to determine where conflict minerals are most likely to be found in its supply chain?

Based on Full Material Declaration (FMD) data from its suppliers, Kontron is able to identify where 3T&G are most likely to be present in its products.

Are any of those metals, used in Kontron products, directly or indirectly financing or benefitting armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or an adjoining country?

Kontron is still in the process of collecting data from its suppliers. Therefore, the presence of conflict minerals that are directly or indirectly financing or benefitting armed groups is unknown at this time.

For this reason, Kontron is currently not able to confirm if those metals are coming from a recycler or scrap supplier.

However, to the best of our knowledge, we have not found any evidence that conflict minerals that are directly or indirectly financing or benefitting armed groups are used in any Kontron products based on the available data received at this point. Should this occur with information being collected from its suppliers, Kontron will take necessary actions toward them to ensure compliance of its products.

How is Kontron collecting data from its suppliers?

Kontron has contracted a third party environmental service provider to support this requirement and work with its suppliers to collect the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT).
