Kontron Introduces High-Performance Workstation for Industrial and Medical Application

Kontron HPW 410 for high-end applications in demanding environments

Augsburg, Germany, March 2, 2017 – Kontron, a leading global provider of Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), today introduced a high-performance workstation for industrial and medical applications. The Kontron High Performance Workstation HPW 410 comes in an industrial-grade design ideally suited for high-end  applications and continuous operation in challenging environments. It supports up to three GPGPU expansion cards, making the workstation a perfect fit for applications such as industrial image processing or the evaluation of imaging processes in the medical field. The system easily handles CPU-intensive tasks and large amounts of data thanks to up to two integrated Intel® Xeon® processors. Still, the system's noise emission remains constantly low, qualifying the workstation for audio-visual applications as well as operation in noise-sensitive areas such as control stations where operators are present.

The HPW 410 is based on high-performance Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 series processors with up to 256 GB main memory and optional support for ECC error correction. Depending on individual requirements, the system can be upgraded with various internal or removable SSD or HDD drives. Various GPGPU and IO expansion card options such as 10GB ethernet are available as well. The workstation is specifially designed for continuous operation in especially demanding environments. It is shock and vibration resistant and suitable for operations within an extended temperature range from 0°C to 50°C.

Kontron`s service portfolio includes active change management from change notifications to Frozen BOM (bill of material) as well as device modifications and even custom device development. The workstation has two USB 3.0 ports on the front as well as two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports on the back (two USB 2.0 ports with the Dual-CPU version), two LAN ports, one audio port (only for the Single-CPU version), and an optional RS232 port. The single Intel Xeon processor version supports up to two PCIe x16 Gen3; the dual Intel Xeon CPU version up to four PCIe x16 Gen3 extension cards

The Kontron High Performance Workstation HPW 410 supports the operating systems Windows Server 2012 R2 as well as Windows 7/10 and Red Hat Linux.
